Liverpool left-winger, Luis Diaz was the starman in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg game against Benfica on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.
The club’s coach, Jurgen Klopp decided to start the 25-year-old left-winger against Benfica in Portugal, a country that is not new to the Colombian footballer.
Recall that Luis Diaz played for a Portuguese club, FC Porto from July 10, 2019, to January 30, 2022, when he decided to join Liverpool for a transfer fee worth €45 million.
Since he arrived at the Premier League club, he has been outstanding as he quickly adapted to coach Jurgen Klopp’s style of play which earned him regular game time at the club.
Between February to the time of publishing this report, Luis Diaz has been able to play 13 times in all competitions in which he scored three goals and provided an assist.
The UEFA Champions League quarter-final game against Benfica on Tuesday marked Luis Diaz’s return to Portugal for the first time since he left Porto in January.
In the game, Diaz played like when he was playing against Benfica for Porto as he scored Liverpool’s third goal in the 87th minute to give the Premier League side a resounding 3-1 victory away from home.
Before he scored the third goal in the game, Diaz assisted Sadio Mane to tap in the club’s second goal which means that the Colombian footballer scored a goal and provided an assist in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Benfica.
After the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg game, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp described Luis Diaz as a top player.

Kevin De Bruyne shines in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final the first clash between Man City and Atletico Madrid
The second UEFA Champions League quarter-final game on Tuesday night, April 5, was between Manchester City and Atletico Madrid at the Etihad Stadium.
Ahead of the game, it was expected to be a caging game because of Atletico Madrid’s style of play which focuses on defending and waiting to catch their opponents on the counter.
Unfortunately for coach Diego Simeone and his boys, Manchester City players prove to be too good for such tactics. The players waited patiently and continued to pass the ball around until towards the 70th-minute mark when second-half substitute Phil Foden made an unstoppable run before he slotted the ball to Kevin De Bruyne who slotted the ball into the net beautifully.

After the goal, Manchester City continued to ask questions but the defense of Atletico Madrid did not give the Premier League side a second opportunity to double their lead.
Hence, Kevin De Bruyne’s 70th-minute goal was all Pep Guardiola’s men could get from the game ahead of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg game.
