Transfer Rumor: Shanghai Shenhua to replace Odion Ighalo with Obafemi Martins

    Even while the pitch is at peace from football games due to the outbreak of the novel Covid-19, it seems people in the corridor of football games are not going home to rest until the world is free again. There have been speculations that Shanghai Shenhua is already making plans to replace Odion Ighalo with another Nigerian player, Obafemi Martins.

    Shanghai Shenhua does not want to leave anything to chance should Odion Ighalo be offered a contract to remain in Manchester United when his loan expires at the end of the season. There is no doubt that Odion Ighalo will do everything possible to extend his stay in the English club which has been his dream club even before he became a professional football player.

    Reasonably, Shanghai Shenhua is making plans to bring Obafemi Martins into the Chinese club to replace Odion Ighalo in a seeable future, this was revealed by a Chinese sports outlet Titan Sport Plus. Obafemi Martins left Shenhua in 2018 after he suffered a hamstring injury which put a minor setback to his career.

    While he was at the club, Obafemi Martins scored a total of about 20 goals in all completion for the club. Martins is hailed for his fast style of play, he possesses a great skill of running through defenders, cutting edges and playing a shot at long range. Also, the left foot striker pride himself for possessing unimaginable strength, despite his runty height, he still a great threat even top defenders in the world.

    Obafemi Martins’s national league campaign ended in 2015 when the striker announced his retirement from the national team. Before his retirement, he played in over 42 games for the Super Eagles of Nigeria and scored about 19 goals for Nigeria. There is no gainsaying that he is one of the greatest strikers in the history of Nigerian football.
