There have been reports that Premier League club Chelsea FC is in talks with Philippe Coutinho who is currently on a loan spell in Bayern Munich from Barcelona. Coutinho switched to Barcelona in 2018 after the Spanish club paid a sum of €145.00m to Liverpool to seal the deal that landed the Brazilian attacking midfielder in Barcelona.

The silver lining was that Barcelona bought Coutinho as a potential replacement for Neymar Jr who was sold to Paris Saint-Germain for a whopping fee of £200 million which made him the most expensive player in the history of football. However, Coutinho’s style of play doesn’t seem to interest the Catalonia bosses, he was sent to Bayern Munich on a loan spell. He spent only two years in Camp Nou before he agreed on a season-long to Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, might not be too interested in extending the stay of Philippe Coutinho in the club due to his diminishing performances in the club. He has played in over 35 matches for his new club and he has scored about 9 goals and has about 8 assists.

Whereas, the silver lining, if any though, is that Barcelona is looking forward to swapping Antoine Griezmann for Neymar Jr. This literally means that if the deal should work out well, Barcelona might not need the service of Philippe Coutinho anymore. So in essence, Barcelona might decide to cut their loss on the Brazilian midfielder.

However, new reports emerged stating that Chelsea is secretly in talks with Philippe Coutinho to buy him from Barcelona in the next transfer window which is expected to open in summer. It would be recalled that Coutinho had a successful stat while he was in Premier League playing for Liverpool Fc. He was an integral part of the Liverpool team since he joined in 2013.

Reasonably, Coutinho left the English club in 2018 for a greener pasture in Spain, he looked forward to winning more trophies with Barcelona. The Brazilian star who is currently worth about £70 million might have to make his return to Premier League in summer when the transfer window opens. Only that he might be returning to Premier League through Chelsea Fc.
