Everton winger, Theo Walcott is about to return to Southampton, the club where he began his professional career.

Arsenal bought Theo Walcott from Southampton in 2006. 14 years down the line, the English forward is close to sealing a move back to his former club from Goodison Park.

His playing time has been limited under Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian tactician has revamped Everton, that is currently on 100 percent record across all tournament. He is now set to follow Moise Kean, who joined PSG on loan out fo the club.

The winger is therefore poised to complete a return to St Mary’s Stadium having traveled south to complete his medical.

According to reports, the two clubs will share the forward’s wages. The Saints now have until 11 pm today to finalise a move for their former player.

Arsenal sold Walcott to Everton for a fee of around £20m in January 2018. He made 85 appearances for the club. The Toffees were unable to receive further permanent offer for him as he enters the final year of his contract. This technically means that Southampton could get him back on a permanent basis next summer as a free agent.

Walcott, who came through Southampton’s academy and made his debut for the club in 2006, has only been able to play for 12 minutes under Ancelotti this season in their four Premier League games.

He also has 47 England caps.

    Other Southampton transfer news

As the deadline approaches, Southampton continues to be active in the transfer market. They signed 21-year-old midfielder Ibrahima Diallo from Brest on Sunday.

They are also interested in Everton midfielder Tom Davies, Toulouse’s Ibrahim Sangare, and Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Either of the trio could replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who joined Tottenham earlier in the window.

Ralph Hasenhuttl is also interested in Manchester United’s Brandon Williams. Having approached the player for a loan agreement, Manchester United would reportedly insist that the 20-year-old full-back be guaranteed a certain number of games before allowing him to move to St Mary’s.

The summer transfer window will close tonight at 11 pm.
