Tottenham vs Liverpool Premier League game ended in favor of Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp as his team beat Tottenham’s Jose Mourinho 3-1 at Tottenham Stadium.
The two coaches met for the second time in the Premier League this season and this time around, there were no many touchline issues between them for football pundits to analyze.
Recall that when they met for the first leg of this season’s Premier League campaign on December 16, 2020, they had a bitter exchange at the end of the match that keeps pundits talking for days. The meeting which took place at Anfield ended 2-1 in favor of Liverpool.
Before the return fixture which took place on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Tottenham Stadium, the manager of Tottenham, Jose Mourinho recounted how Liverpool’s coach Jurgen Klopp is not moderate in his temper and how the German coach has always gotten away with touchline fights.
But all that counted for nothing when Tottenham vs Liverpool kicked off. The battle was strictly on the pitch as football fans who followed the game saw an end-to-end battle and almost a balanced game.
However, Liverpool were better because they managed to create fair goalscoring chances and did more to take the chances they have created. It would have been more difficult for them if Tottenham’s defense was more coordinated.

It is interesting to note that the two teams almost wasted the first 45 minutes shooting off-target until in the additional 4th minute when Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino put the visitors ahead. Before then, the Video Assistant Referee has ruled out a Heung-min Son’s strike for offside.
In the first few minutes in the second half, Liverpool came out and looked more determined to close up the game. Their pressure on Tottenham’s defense paid off in the 47th minute when Trent Alexander-Arnold made it two for Liverpool.

Tottenham tried to fight back through a stunner from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg but that was the best they could get until the match ended.
But before the final whistle, Mohamed Salah almost made it three for Liverpool but the VAR canceled his strike after spotting a handball in the box-eighteen against Liverpool. Hence, Sadio Mane was given the honor to settle the scores in the Tottenham vs Liverpool league game with his beautiful strike in the 65th minute.
The match ended 3-1 in favor of Liverpool and also ended Liverpool five games winless run. Unfortunately for Jose Mourinho, he didn’t only lose the Tottenham vs Liverpool fixture for the second time this season, his main striker Harry Kane ended the game with an ankle injury.
Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Tottenham has taken Liverpool to the 4th spot on the league table with 37 points in 20 league games. While Tottenham settled for the 6th spot with 33 points in 19 league games.
