Tottenham Hotspur Sign Youngster Archie Gray From Leeds United

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of midfielder Archie Gray from Leeds United for a fee of €41.2 million.

Gray arrives at the North London side, with defender Joe Rodon heading in the opposite direction in a deal worth €11.8 million.

Archie Gray has put pen to paper on a six-year deal with Spurs, which runs until the summer of 2030.

Confirming the arrival of Gray, Tottenham Hotspur put out a lengthy statement which an excerpt reads:

“We are delighted to announce the signing of Archie Gray from Leeds United. The versatile midfielder has signed a contract that will run until 2030 and will wear the number 14 shirt.” 

Reports indicate that the sale of Archie Gray is enough to make Leeds United compliant with profit and sustainability rules.

The Elland Road side were defeated in the Championship play-off final by Southampton and this cost them promotion alongside forcing them to sell players.

Tottenham Hotspur moved fast to snap up the services of Gray, who was also linked with a move to Brentford.

Archie Gray had started a medical at the Bees’ training ground, only for their bid to be rejected by Leeds United due to payment structure and add-ons.

Gray, who is an England Under-21 and can also feature for Scotland at international level, is the great-nephew of Leeds United legend Eddie Gray.

In their statement, confirming the exit of Archie Gray, the Yorkshire club shared that they had agreed to the teenager’s transfer “with a heavy heart”.

The English Championship side added: “Everyone at Leeds United is heartbroken to see one of our own depart and would like to thank Archie for all his efforts and professionalism.”

Joe Rodon, who represents Wales at international level and was on loan at Leeds United in the 2023/24 season, has penned a four-year deal with the Whites, which runs until the summer of 2028.
