Chelsea are leading the list of clubs who have spent the most in the just-concluded 2024 transfer window in Europe. The Blues have expended a whooping €241m on new signings.

They are closely followed by Manchester United who have splashed €214m to bring in new talents. Generally, Premier League Clubs dominate the top 10 lists with Brighton and Aston Villa making a surprise entry.

Chelsea – €241m

Chelsea are again leading the list of the highest-spending clubs in the 2024 transfer window. According to Transfermarkt, the Blues have expended a total of €241m on new signings this summer alone.

Leading the list of the Blues’ most expensive acquisitions this summer includes Pedro Neto from Wolves, who joined for €55m from Wolves. The Blues also acquired Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid for €30m, the same price at which they signed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City. Filip Jorgensen joined from Villarreal for €20m, including Tosin Aderabioyo. Other new signings have transfer fees below €7.5m.

Manchester United – €214m

Manchester United are second on the log after spending €214m on new signings. The Red Devils were initially sixth on the ladder but a final deal with PSG for Manuel Ugarte, worth €50m, has pushed the club to the second spot in the ladder. Other deals completed by the club include Leny Yoro from Lille (€62m), Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich (€45m), Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna (€42m), and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich (€15m).

Brighton – €201m

Brighton have made a surprise entry into the top-spending clubs in the 2024-25 transfer window. They have reportedly spent €201m on new signings, per Transfermarkt. Ivory Coast midfielder Malick Yalcouye, 18, is the only player Brighton have signed below €19.5m. The 18-year-old joined for €7.5m from IFK Goteborg.

All other seven paid Brighton transfers fall between the range of €19.5m to €46.7m. The club’s most expensive in the summer is a 22-year-old new arrival from Leeds United Georginio Rutter. Rutter plays as a forward and has joined the club for €46.7m.

Other Brighton new signings falling within the range of €35m to €29.5m are Yankuba Minteh, Mats Wieffer, Brajan Gruda, Ferdi Kadioglu, and Matt O’Riley.

Atletico Madrid – €187m

Atletico Madrid are fourth on the ladder, having expended €187m on new signings this summer, according to Transfermarkt. Julian Alvarez is the club’s most expensive signing, having joined from Manchester City for €75m.

Former Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is second with €42m transfer fee. Robin Le Normand from Real Sociedad and Alexander Sorloth from Villarreal have transfer fees of €34.5m and €32m, respectively.

Aston Villa – €170m

Premier League Club Aston Villa are fifth on the list of the highest-spending clubs in the 2024 transfer window. The Villains have expended €170m to reinforce the squad as they prepare for the Premier League and Champions League campaign. Midfielder Amadou Onana, who joined from Everton for €59.35m, is the club’s most expensive signing. Former Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen is second with a transfer fee of €44.5m.

Other new additions to the club – Cameron Archer, Jaden Philogene, Samuel Illing-Junior, Luis Dobbin, Enzo Barrenechea, and Ross Barkley – have transfer fees ranging from €5.9m to €16.65.

PSG – €170m

French Ligue 1 giants have spent the same amount – €170m – as Aston Villa in the 2024 transfer window. Unlike Brighton’s transfer fee spread, PSG have signed just four players that have added up to the €170m.

Their most expensive arrival is Joao Neves, who joined from Benfica for €59.92m. Desire Doue is second on the list after joining from Rennes for €50m. Center-back William Pacho is third following a €40m transfer deal with Eintracht Frankfurt and former Krasnodar goalkeeper completing the list after joining for €20m.

Tottenham Hotspur – €149m

Tottenham Hotspur’s approximate spending in the 2024 transfer window is €149m, according to Transfermarkt. The Lilywhites’ most expensive signing this summer is the €64.3m arrival from Bournemouth Dominic Solanke. 18-year-old central midfielder, Archie Gray, who joined from Leeds United for €41.25m, is the club’s second-most expensive signing.

Left-winger from Burnley Wilson Odobert is third, having joined for €29.3m. Lucas Bergvall and Yank are fourth and fifth with transfer fees of €10m and €4m, respectively.

West Ham United – €144m

West Ham United have splashed out €144m in the 2024 transfer window. Former Wolves center-back Maz Kilman is the club’s most expensive signing, having joined for €47.5m. Former Leeds United left-winger is second with a transfer fee of €29.3m.

The acquisition of Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund cost the Hammers €27m while Luis Guilherme and Aaron Wan-Bissaka cost €23m and €17.6m, respectively.

Bayern Munich – €142m

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are ninth on the table with an approximate transfer spending of €142m. French footballer and former Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Michael Olise is the club’s most expensive arrival. Olise joined the Bavarians for €53m.

He is closely followed by another former Premier League footballer Joao Palhinha, who joined from Fulham for €51m. Center-back Hiroko Ito, 25, is the third most expensive addition to the squad this summer after joining from Stuttgart for €23.5m. Bryan Zaragoza and Armindo Sieb cost the club €13m and 1.5m, respectively.

Lyon – €134m

After PSG, Lyon is the only other French club that has made the top 10. The Ligue 1 side have spent €134m on new signings in the 2024 transfer window. The club have signed series of players with single-digit transfer fees, such as Duje Caleta-car from Southampton (€3.59m), Mama Balde from Troyes, (€6m), Tanner Tessmann from Venezia (€6m), and left-back Abner from Real Betis (€8m).

Former West Ham left-winger Said Benrahma cost the club €14.4m. Georges Mikautadze was signed from Metz for €18.5m. Orel Mangala joined from Nottingham Forest for €23.4m. Another former Nottingham Forest player, Moussa Niakhate, 28, is the club’s most expensive signing, with a transfer fee of €31.9m. He is followed by Ernest Nuamah, who joined for €28.5m.
