Toni Kroos Lifts Lid On Future After Retirement From Football

    Toni Kroos has revealed his next career move when he ultimately retires from football after the 2024 European Championship.

    Kroos said he will spend most of his time with his family, whilst also working in his youth academy which he created in Madrid.

    Toni Kroos launched his academy in 2021 to unearth talents for the beautiful game in the coming years.

    The Germany international revealed his decision to retire from football after the Euros on May 21, 2024, an announcement that shocked many across the globe.

    Several football enthusiasts were shocked by the move, as they felt he had more to offer to the round leather game.

    However, Kroos shared in his statement confirming his retirement from football that he had always wanted to retire in good shape.

    He wrote: “The day of my presentation at Real Madrid, the day that changed my life. My life as a footballer – but especially as a person.

    “It was the start of a new chapter at the biggest club in the world. After 10 years, at the end of the season, this chapter comes to an end. I will never forget that insolent successful time!

    “I am happy and proud that in my mind I found the right timing for my decision and that I could choose it on my own. My ambition was always to finish my career at the peak of my performance level.”

    Toni Kroos bowed out of club football with two trophies in his final season at Real Madrid, winning the La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles.

    Toni Kroos’ Next Career Move After Retirement From Football

    During an interview with German media outlet Kicker, Kroos revealed his next career move, saying: “I will spend my time with my family mostly and I’ll be working on my youth academy in Madrid as planned.”

    Kroos is married to long-term girlfriend Jessica Farber, who he tied the knot with on June 13, 2015.

    They have three children together, a son; Leon, born in 2013, a daughter, Amelie, born in 2016, and a second son, Fin, born in 2019.

    Meanwhile, Toni Kroos added that the Icon League, which he alongside retired footballer Elias Nerlich founded, will also commence in September 2024.

    The 34-year-old said: “The Icon League, which I founded with Elias Nerlich, will also start in September”.

    Kroos made 465 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 28 goals and providing 99 assists in all competitions.

    The former Bayer Leverkusen man has won several trophies in his stellar career, including; 1 FIFA World Cup, 7 league titles, and 6 UEFA Champions League crowns.

    Cumulatively, Toni Kroos made 718 club career appearances, scoring 62 goals and providing 161 assists in all competitions.

    Internationally, the 34-year-old has made 108 appearances for Germany, scoring 17 goals and providing 21 assists across all competitions.
