Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has dropped a teaser in the future of Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea manager as he breaks silence on the Chelsea project.
Chelsea are stuck in the bottom half of the Premier League table. They are 11th on the table with 41 points from 28 games and are teetering on the brink of missing out of all UEFA club competitions next season.
Despite a record £1bn transfer splurge to refurbish and overhaul the team, Chelsea are still struggling to find their feet in the English topflight.
With the stats showing no signs of improving, Mauricio Pochettino has come under intense pressure. However, it appears the Argentine’s job is secured with Todd Boehly’s recent comment on the project.
In a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, Todd Boehly, who is set to leave his role as the club’s chairman in 2027, said the club need time to develop and become a strong team.
“We just need to let the process develop and give our squad the time to go from being unbelievable individual players with great skills to fold into a team”.
“We just have to continue to stay the course”, told Forbes.
After completing a £4.25bn takeover of the club, Todd Boehly is yet to reap the dividends from his investment with Mauricio Pochettino yet to take the team to the dreamland.
Pochettino deserved to be cut some slacks on the conversation on the state of Chelsea. He took the team to the EFL Cup final where they lost to Liverpool and has also qualified for the FA Cup last four where they will take on Manchester City.
However, it has not been a smooth debut run for the Argentine in the Blues’ dugout. A series of inconsistent results has cast doubts on his prospects on the job.
Chelsea settled for a disappointing 2-2 draw against 10-man Burnley at Stamford Bridge in their last game. While the team has competitively engaged with Premier League heavyweights iner Poch, they have struggled against smaller opponents.
Pochettino signed a two-year contract with Chelsea till 2025, and will hope to continue with the team next season if he is not sacked at the end of the season.
