Tiemoue Bakayoko, a midfielder for Chelsea on loan at AC Milan, was a victim of a “mistaken identity” as Italian police pulled him over and arrested him erroneously.

Futballnews gathered that Bakayoko, who is on a two-season loan at AC Milan, was reportedly mistaken to be a gang member by the police at a traffic stop.

A video surfaced online in the early hours of today, July 18, 2022, showing three police officers harassing the French midfielder at gunpoint. He was searched thoroughly by one of the police offers.

Seconds later, the policeman had to leave the Frenchman when he realized that he was harassing an innocent footballer plying his trade with AC Milan.

The police were left with no choice but to apologize for harassing the 27-year-old defensive midfielder.

Futballnews gathered that Bakayoko had to be stopped, arrested and searched due to a shooting that occurred earlier in the day in Milan “between some black foes and Latinos”.

A statement from the police read: “The search, which happened on July 3, was due to a shooting that happened in the area in the previous hours, and the two suspects were two men in an SUV fitting the description. One of the two was black and with a green shirt.” It concluded. “That’s why the gun was pointed.”

In the video above, it was observed that the two other officers are seen pointing their drawn weapons at the player’s car as one officer is seen emptying the midfielder’s pockets and placing the contents on the roof of their vehicle.

Another police officer walked up to the police harassing Tiemoue Bakayoko to inform him that their suspect was innocent and a football star. Immediately the police got the message, he hands off the footballer.

Bakayoko made 14 appearances for the Rossoneri outfit.

Tiemoue Bakayoko, a 2021/2022 Serie A winner has spent one season of his two-year loan at AC Milan. He made 14 appearances for AC Milan last season. He is expected to return to Chelsea in the summer of 2023.

Bakayoko signed for Chelsea in 2017 after a wonderful season at AS Monaco. Since then, he managed to make 43 appearances for the blues registering 3 goals and 3 assists, and has since then had loan spells at AC Milan, Monaco, Napoli, and AC Milan again.

Reports suggest that there is a “strong interest” from Valencia and their new head coach, Gennaro Gattuso (who has worked twice with Bakayoko already). But it is understood that it is Olympique Marseille that is leading the lines in getting the signature of the French national.

Bakayoko’s future still hangs on a balance and will be sorted out in a few weeks as Chelsea look to offload the out-of-favor midfielder permanently.
