The manager of Chelsea football club, Thomas Tuchel has revealed that he has been watching Inter Milan games to see how he could help Romelu Lukaku to regain his goalscoring form.

Romelu Lukaku has been having a tough time at Chelsea after a very productive 2020-2021 season at Inter Milan. Recall that the 28-year-old Belgian striker scored 30 goals and provided 13 assists in 44 games in all competitions for Inter Milan last season.

His goals helped Inter Milan to win the Italian Serie A title ahead of Juventus, the serial winners of the league title.

Before Romelu Lukaku decided to return to Chelsea, the Premier League club he played for between 2011 and 2014, the Belgian striker scored 64 goals and provided 16 assists in 95 games in all competitions within two seasons.

His consistent performance for two successive seasons convinced Chelsea to pay Inter Milan a whopping €113 million for the services of the Belgian striker.

When he first arrived at Stamford Bridge, the Belgian striker scored four goals in his first four games for the Premier League club. Afterward, he began to struggle to score goals for Chelsea.

Things got worst for the Belgium international after he suffered an ankle injury in October 2021 and contracted coronavirus that sidelined him for a couple of games.

When he returned to full fitness, he struggled to return to goalscoring form. Amid the drop in form, Lukaku told Sky in Italy that he was not happy at Chelsea and not also happy with the tactics of coach Thomas Tuchel.

The comment forced coach Tuchel to sideline him against the Premier League game against Liverpool. He returned to the squad after apologizing to the coach and the club.

In the last 12 Premier League games, Lukaku has managed to score just 2 goals. He is expected to lead Chelsea’s attack against Tottenham Hotspur later today, January 23, 2022. The match will kick off at 17:30.

Ahead of the game, Chelsea’s coach Thomas Tuchel admitted that he has been watching Inter Milan games because of Lukaku. “Yes, we’ve talked about this,” the coach said according to Daily Mail.

“I watch football games and I can see where he plays, how he plays, and the way Inter plays.”

According to a report by the Daily Mail ahead of the Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur, coach Thomas Tuchel compared Romelu Lukaku with Tottenham Hotspur’s striker Harry Kane.

The German tactician stressed that Kane was criticized for not scoring goals just like how Lukaku is being criticized currently for a dip in form. He insisted that Lukaku’s form would soon pick like that of Kane.

“I remember when there were a lot of critics for Harry Kane at the beginning of the season. But in the end, he is what he is. He’s a goalscorer.” Tuchel said.

“I think if you are a scorer at this level, you must have been scoring goals from six years old.

“You just have it and he will never lose it and it’s the same for Romelu.

“These guys, at the end of the season, will have a certain amount of goals. Why?

“Because they have proved this is what they do. It’s simply what they do.”

So far this season, Lukaku has scored 8 goals and provided two assists in 23 games in all competitions for Chelsea. While Harry Kane has scored 13 goals and provided three assists in 29 games in all competitions for Spurs.
