Thomas Tuchel is interested in becoming England manager in the future should the country sack current manager Gareth Southgate.

Tuchel was fired by Chelsea last month, and he is currently unemployed.

The 49-year-old German has been mentioned in connection with a possible return to the Bundesliga, but he reportedly declined the opportunity to take over Bayer Leverkusen before the team hired former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Tuchel would be willing to accept the England position if it comes available in the future, according to the German daily Bild.

Due to a poor run of results that has seen England lose their past six games, Southgate is facing increasing pressure ahead of next month’s World Cup, but he is convinced he has no plans to step down after the competition in Qatar.

In the face of rumors over his future, the 52-year-old English tactician has said he intends to finish out his contract through 2024.

The oddsmakers still consider Graham Potter, Chelsea’s new manager, to be the favorite to succeed Southgate as England’s manager.

Note that Todd Boehly, the new owner of Chelsea, fired Tuchel after barely 100 days of being the controlling owner of Chelsea. It is said that the two did not get along well while he was at Stamford Bridge.

The German won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021. He had previously served as the manager of clubs like Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain.

Tuchel coached Chelsea for 100 games, winning 60, drawing 24, and losing 16.

Since joining Chelsea, Potter has won three of his four games, including two victories over AC Milan in the Champions League.

Thomas Tuchel, a German professional football manager and former player (born August 29, 1973), most recently served as Chelsea’s manager in the Premier League.

Tuchel, a Krumbach native, started his coaching career in 2000 as a youth coach at VfB Stuttgart. After a year at FC Augsburg II, he was employed by Mainz 05 in 2009. Tuchel retired at age 25 due to a severe knee cartilage injury.

He left Mainz in 2014 and joined Borussia Dortmund, a fellow Bundesliga team, in 2015. While there, he won the DFB-Pokal until being fired in 2017.

Before being fired in 2020, he was hired by the French club Paris Saint-Germain, where he won two league championships, including a domestic quadruple in his second season, and led the team to its first UEFA Champions League final.

Tuchel won the Champions League in his first season after being hired by Chelsea in 2021. He was shown the exit door by The Blues in September 2022.

    England Under Gareth Southgate

Under-fire Gareth Southgate is still certain that he is the best candidate to guide England to the World Cup, and he is optimistic that the group will gel in Qatar.

England is one of the favorites to win the title this winter after finishing runners-up at last summer’s European Championship and reaching the semi-finals in Russia four years ago.

However, things went wrong for England at the worst possible time, as a result of which they were demoted from the top tier of the Nations League following Italy’s loss.

After a sixth loss, Southgate received jeers from some of the visiting fans at San Siro, which increases pressure and scrutiny as the World Cup opener against Iran on November 21 approaches.

The England Manager However feels that he is still the right man for the job, he said: “Look, I think that’s currently where it is and I have to accept that.”

“I think I’m the right person to take the team into the tournament. I think it’s more stable that way, without a doubt.

“I don’t think (the) performance (against Italy) was far off and I know that’s going to get derision just because we’re on the back of a run of defeats.”
