The manager of Chelsea football club, Thomas Tuchel is on the verge of losing consecutive Premier League games as he admitted that his team’s form is horrible ahead of a league game against Leeds United.

Since Thomas Tuchel became the coach of Chelsea in the second half of last season, the club has not struggled as much as they have been doing in recent games. They have not recorded two consecutive defeats in the league but they could break that record later today, December 11, at 16:00 in favor of Leeds United.

Recall that Chelsea lost their last Premier League game which was against in-form West Ham United. The 3-2 defeat on December 4, 2021, forced the reigning UEFA Champions League winners to the 3rd spot on the league table with 33 points in 15 games, 2 points below first-placed Manchester City, and a point below 2nd placed Liverpool.

After losing to West Ham United, a team Chelsea were expected to beat, Thomas Tuchel and his team traveled to Russia to take on Zenit St Petersburg. To the dismay of many, the club failed to beat the Russian club in the UEFA Champions League group stage game. The game ended in a 3-3 draw.

The 3-3 draw forced Chelsea to drop from the first spot in UEFA Champions League Group H to the second spot with 13 points in 6 games, 2 points below first placed Juventus.

The fall denied Thomas Tuchel and his boys the privilege of being a seeded team ahead of the draw for the competition’s round of 16.

Later today, Chelsea will take on Leeds United that are currently sitting on the 15th spot in the Premier League table with 16 points in 15 games. Leeds are condemned to win today’s league game to boost their fight to survive relegation.

Hence, Chelsea could find it difficult to battle with Leeds United even though the Premier League game is scheduled to take place at Stamford Bridge.

    Coach Thomas Tuchel of Chelsea.

Ahead of the match, coach Thomas Tuchel said: “This is very unusual for us and this should not become common.

“The performances are not horrible. They are in some moments average and average looks kind of horrible when you play and work for Chelsea.

“If you have the lead four times in two matches and you escape with one point and six goals conceded, it’s not the moment to look away and pretend nothing’s happening.

“I have the feeling we dropped from good performances to normal, average performances when we lead.”

On Chelsea’s struggle so far, coach Tuchel added: “We’ve learned now, hopefully, twice from experience, and we have the chance to prove it now tomorrow (December 11).

“It is back to basics – and basics on the highest level. We are in this together.

“From my experience, I can say I always find it very challenging to keep things on track even when the results are good. There is not a big problem, we should not worry too much, but should also not look away. It is not a big issue at the moment.”
