Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel has already recorded the same number of defeats as his successor Julian Nagelsmann with just 7 games into his reign.

Obviously, the optimism among the ranks at Bayern Munich hierachy may be teetering on its all-time low.

This may likely go down as one of the wild and glaring tumble by Oliver Kahn. Already, sources close to the club says his position as the club’s CEO is under threat.

While it is too early to assess the prospects of his new recruit Thomas Tuchel as manager, when the stats are juxtaposed with Nagelsmann’s, the benchmarks leave much to be desired.

Convincing the fans the club made a right decision to sack Nagelsmann and hire Tuchel is now a matter of faith not conviction based on facts.

On March 24, 2023, Julian Nagelsmann met his nemesis in the hands of his overlords at Bayern Munich, as his reign in Bayern Munich dugout was cut short.

The 35-year-old manager had gone skiing, joining thousands of club managers to take a break from club duties while players head for national team duties during the international break.

He was summoned up to a crisis meeting by the club’s hierarchy where he learnt he has been dismissed from his role as Bayern Munich manager.

The sack came as a shock to pundits and football fans alike. Bayern Munich obviously recorded some hiccups in their Bundesliga run after the World Cup break.

They dropped 6 points in a row, drawing three matches. However, their Champions League form were untainted – 100% win in the group stages against other European heavyweights like Inter Milan and Barcelona.

Nagelsmann further led the team to a back-to-back Champions League knockout win over a star-studded Ligue 1 champions, PSG.

Under his watch, the Bavarians were eyeing a triple – Champions League, German Super Cup, and the Bundesliga.

However, it appears the club were bent on parting ways with the German gaffer due to what they deemed a subpar delivery on the domestic front, especially in the Bundesliga.

Julian Nagelsmann was sacked after Bayern Munich lost a Bundesliga game against Bayer Leverkusen before the international break.

Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamidzic said the club was concerned about a sharp drop in form and inconsistent Bundesliga run.

Before Julian Nagelsmann’s sack, sources close to the club revealed Thomas Tuchel was already contacted for the job.

After losing his job at Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel was on hand to takeover from Julian Nagelsmann and was appointed Bavarians’ boss immediately after Nagelsmann was shown the exit door.

Under Thomas Tuchel, Bayern Munich crashed out of the German Super Cup after losing to Freiburg. They also crashed out of the Champions League losing to Manchester City.

Thomas Tuchel seemed to have lost his gear after opening his reign as Bavarians’ boss with a big win over domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund.

In Bundesliga matchday 29, Bayern Munich suffered a shock 3-1 defeat to Mainz, a loss that have seen the club drop to second place on the Bundesliga table, a point behind title challengers and bitter rivals Borussia Dortmund.

The former Chelsea boss has now recorded the same number of defeats, 3, in just 7 games as his successor Julian Nagelsmann in his 37 games in-charge before the sack.

Do you think Bayern Munich made a mistake sacking Julian Nagelsmann and replacing him with Thomas Tuchel?
