What Does This News Mean for Interim Boss Lee Carsley?
Speculations about Tuchel’s agreement to become England gaffer would mean Lee Carsley remaining in interim charge for their UEFA Nations League matches against Greece and the Republic of Ireland in November 2024.
The English FA had made it clear at the start of its recruitment process in July 2024 that nationality was not a problem, as they were only interested in appointing the best person for the job.
U21 coach Carsley has handled the senior men’s national team of England in an interim capacity since August 2024.

Targets For Thomas Tuchel As England Manager
Tuchel has his work cut out for him, as he will have to eclipse the achievements of the last permanent boss of England, Gareth Southgate, who led England to the final of the UEFA European Championship on two occasions (2020 and 2024).
Southgate also guided the Three Lions to the semi-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, albeit losing to Belgium in the third-place final.
Thomas Tuchel will have a litany of European stars to work with, including Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Phil Foden, amongst others.
