    The record has shown that the 50m Euros move of Ghanaian midfielder, Thomas Partey to Arsenal from Athletico Madrid is the second most expensive deadline day transfer.

    After Athletico Madrid refused to negotiate with Arsenal for his transfer, Arsenal took advantage of the La Liga release clause rule by paying a 50m Euros cheque for Partey at the Madrid headquarters.

    The 27-year-old has become an important player for Diegoe Simeone’s side after getting into the first team since 2015.

    But in the last three seasons, he has become one of the top performers in the team, with his ability to win the ball by breaking opoponents’ attack and creating assists as well.

    1. Anthony Martial (Monaco to Manchester United) – 60m Euros

    Topping the log of the record is Manchester United striker, Anthony Martial.

    The Old Trafford club paid Monaco 60m Euros for the then 19-year-old Martial on September 1, 2015.

    Another German midfielder, Julian Draxler occupies the fourth spot as Paris Sainte-Germain won the battle for his signature paying Wolsfburg 43m Euros for him in 2017.

    5. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal to Liverpool) – 38m Euros

    Liverpool midfielder, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain completes the top five. Liverpool paid Arsenal 38m Euros for the utility player on August 31st. 2017.

    6. Danny Drinkwater (Leicester City to Chelsea) – 37.9m Euros

    Having enjoyed a successful season with Leicester City that led to their first Premier League trophy, Chelsea snapped up Danny Drinkwater on deadline day of August 31 2017.

    The Blues paid 37.9m Euros for the hard tackling midfielder.

    7. David Luis (PSG to Chelsea) – 35m Euros

    Chelsea resigned David Luis from PSG for 35m Euros in 2016.

    The Brazilian, who now plies his trade with Arsenal had enjoyed success with the Blues, who he initially joined from Benfica for 25m Euros.

    He later moved to the other part of London to link up with the Gunners.

    8. Moussa Sissoko (Newcastle United to Tottenham Hotspur) – 35m Euros

    Moussa Sissoko left Newcastle United for Tottenham Hotspurs on a five-year deal that costs 35m Euros in 2016.

    The French World Cup winner picked the North L ondon club over Everton then.

    9. Marouane Fellaini (Everton to Manchester United) – 32.4m Euros

    The Belgian joined the Red Devils from Everton on the deadline day of 2013 for 32.4m Euros

    Fellaini, who became an important player at Everton reunited with his former boss, David Moyes.

    He later departed the Old Trafford last season fr Chinese club, Shandong Luneng Taishan F.C, after playing 177 games during his five year and half stay.

    10. Islam Slimani (Sporting Lisbon to Leicester City) – 30.5m

    The Algerian striker arrived Leicester from Sporting Lisbon in a 30.5m Euros.

    After being loaned out on mulyipole occassions by the club, he is now back in Leicester, failing to secure a move away on the recent deadline day.
