The statement of Thomas Muller after the match with PSG

Thomas Muller speaking after the clash with PSG said that Bayern Munich always come out victorious against Lionel Messi’s sides compared to when they face his fiercest rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

Muller stated: “Against Messi, things always go well at all levels in terms of results.”

“At club level, Cristiano Ronaldo was our problem when he was at Real Madrid.

“But I have the greatest respect for Messi’s World Cup performance.

“Messi’s individual performance at the World Cup was amazing. He carried the whole squad.

“It’s not so easy to play at a team like PSG. It’s difficult to get a really good team balance.”

The German attacker featured against teams that Messi played for during his footballing journey, he was also an integral player of Germany’s World Cup winning side in 2014.

Muller guided Germany to the 2014 world cup trophy defeating a Messi led Argentina by 1-0 courtesy of an extra time goal from Mario Gotze.

Thomas Muller has also played against Messi six times in the UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds, winning five and losing one.

The Munich based side humiliated Barcelona 8-2 in Lionel Messi’s last champions league appearance for the team before he joined PSG in 2021.

Cristiano Ronaldo has played against Bayern Munich on eight separate times during his time at Real Madrid, winning five, sharing the spoils in one and losing just twice.

Ronaldo scored nine massive goals in eight matches against Bayern Munich with five of those goals scored in the two legged affair in the 2017 UCL campaign as Real Madrid eliminated Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.

Lionel Messi has not shared his thoughts on PSG’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League in the Round of 16 for the second time in succession.

This season makes it eight years that the Argentine last won a Champions League title. He last lifted the title in the 2014/15 season when Barcelona defeated Juventus in the final.

Lionel Messi has scored 129 goals in 163 appearances in the UEFA Champions League while Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 141 goals in the UEFA Champions League.

This tally has place Cristiano Ronaldo as the all-time leading scorer in the competition’s history.

Thomas Muller has also in the past spoken about his choice between both players, he went for Cristiano Ronaldo because he has a “good statistic” playing against Messi than Ronaldo.
