David de Gea is yet to find another club following his departure from Manchester United this summer after spending 12 years at the club.
Erik ten Hag sent the Spaniard packing and replaced him with Andre Onana who joined United from Inter Milan for £47.2 million.
While Ten Hag is feeling right about his decision, it has not been easy for the club following the Cameroonian poor start for the Red Devils.
Recent reports have revealed that it is not the huge wages that is stopping David de Gea from finding a new club since leaving United.
David de Gea, 32, was offloaded by United’s tactician Erik ten Hag, and reportedly turned down offers from Saudi Arabia last summer.
The reason behind the Spaniard turning down offers from Saudi Arabia was that he had always wanted to live in his home country.
According to Daily Mail, “De Gea’s desire to settle back in his home country with Spanish wife Edurne Garcia have made that an option that will only be looked at when other possibilities have been fully exhausted.”
“He married his long-term partner in Menorca this summer and after so long away, they now prefer to settle back in Spain.”
David De Gea has proven himself to be a ‘save-making goalkeeper’, however, the lapses with distributing the ball have limited his chances of a big move.
David de Gea is one fine goalkeeper, however, clubs are more interested in goalies who can play out from the back.
The former United keeper has been replaced with Arsenal’s David Raya and Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez in Spain national team by Unai Simon.
And the shot-stopper is reportedly likely to retire if he fails to land an offer that will make him No.1 at a major club.
As we mentioned before, the Spaniard departed Manchester United after failing to strike a new deal with the club he spent 12 years in.
David de Gea has been seen training to stay fit ahead of potentially landing a new side as he hopes to receive the right offer.
David de Gea enjoyed a successful career at United, he won the Premier League, FA Cup, two League Cups, and the Europa League during his stint at the club.
Individually, he won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award an impressive four times and also United’s Players’ Player of the Year award on four occasions.
The Spaniard was on a £375,000-per-week contract at Man United but failed to strike a new deal with the club, causing his departure.
The Red Devils wasted no time in landing Inter Milan’s Andre Onana for £47.2 million during the summer transfer window.
David de Gea’s replacement has conceded 14 goals in 6 matches for Manchester United and the season is just starting.
