Juventus talisman, Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted missing the fans in the stadiums due to COVID-19 but ‘the show must go on.’

Ronaldo eventually added another personal glory to his Champions League personal achievement by scoring a brace against Barcelona on Tuesday. That was the first goal against the Catalan giant in the competition. The 3-0 win also secured the top spot for the Old Lady in Group G.

The former Real Madrid star then went on Twitter to upload a picture of himself inside an empty Camp Nou saying that he misses fans although the show “must go on.”

Ronaldo scored brace against Barcelona in the Champions League

“We all miss the supporters in the stadiums and hopefully things will change very soon… But until then, the show must go on,” CR7 wrote.

Expressing delight at his achievement on Tuesday against the Catalans, Ronaldo tweeted: “Always great to return to Spain and to Catalunya, always hard to play in Camp Nou against one of the best teams I ever faced. Today we were a team of Champions! A true, strong and united family! Playing like this, we have nothing to fear until the end of the season… Let’s go!”

The 35-year-old has scored 12 goals in 10 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

Is Ronaldo expecting the return of fans amidst COVID-19 resurgence

Having spent 19 days in isolation during his recovery, Ronaldo knows what it means to be carrying the dreaded virrus.

So, it is expected that the talisman won’t call for the return of fans as many teams in the Italian top division record cases on weekly basis.

Expectedly, he won’t be part of people calling for the early return of fans to the stands.

Spain has never opened any of its stadiums to any spectator having been one of the epicentres of the virus before being overtaken by Italy and now the USA.

There has been the gradual reopening of other activities but football continues to suffer from the presence of the fans in Spain.

But Netherlands, Germany, and Russia have witnessed the gradual return of fans to their stadiums.

Italy had initially allowed few back into the stands during the Serie A, but it appears they have gone back to not welcoming fans for now due to rising cases, especially within teams playing in the top flight.

England on the other hand recently welcomed back 2,000 fans per game after the second lockdown. It is hoped that this will work and there won’t be further spike in cases so that more fans can go back to the stadiums and do what they love to do.

The US is the current epicentre as they have so far experienced 15.7 m cases out of 69.5m cases worldwide. The death toll in the country has hit 293,000.
