Italian journalist Maurizio Pistocchi has criticized Italian referee Marco Piccinini after Inter Milan were forced to a 2-2 draw against Parma.

The journalist in a post on his Twitter page criticized the center referee, detailing how the Nerazzurri dominated the Gialloblu throughout the game. The hosts managed to scrape a draw despite having 25 shots compared to Parma’s five.

Parma, therefore, extended their unbeaten run against Inter to five games after dominating the Gialloblu but still found themselves 2-0 down after 62 minutes.

Marcelo Brozovic reduced the parity for Inter against Parma

Inter then restored parity with goals from Ivan Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic.

The last time Inter defeated Parma at the San Siro in the league was April 2013. This is Perisic’s first goal for the Nerazzurri in 536 days.

The result leaves Inter fifth on the Serie A table after six games. Inter might drop further down the table a little depending on today’s results, with rivals Juventus only two points behind.

Inter sets to face Real Madrid hurdle after failing to beat Parma

Next on the schedule of Inter is a Champions League clash against Spanish giants Real Madrid before they face Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta next weekend.

Unfortunately, both games are coming at the time their in-form striker, Romelu Lukaku is currently struggling with a thigh injury. The Belgian has so far scored the two goals recorded by the Milanese club in the Champions League.

Coincidentally, both Inter and Real Madrid have failed to win a game in the Champions League so far this season after two games.

This makes next week’s game a crucial one for both sides. There is a need for change in their fortunes if they want to progress to the next round.

Reacting to the outcome of the Inter game, Pistocchi commented that Piccinini failed to award a penalty to Inter.

“Today on TV everyone is bewildered by the usage of VAR. In fact, if a referee who has a perfect view, free, behind Balogh and Perisic, who does not give a penalty kick then the problem is not VAR. The problem is who allowed Piccinini into the Serie A.”

Madrid on the other hand recorded an emphatic 4-1 victory over Huesca at home in the domestic League to return to the summit of the log.

The return of Eden Hazard could sparkle the Galacticos after the winger scored his first goal in 2020 over the weekend after being involved in their comeback against Borussia Monchengladbach during the midweek Champions League.
