The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) Football Observatory has created a list of 100 players with the top estimated transfer values in the football world.
Here, Futballnews brings to you the ten most valuable footballers the world currently has, according to the research carried out by the International Centre for sport.
These players are evaluated considering their age, performance, and contract.
1. Jude Bellingham
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham currently has the highest transfer value in football at a transfer worth £183.9m, according to research carried out by the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES).
The 19-year-old Dortmund midfielder Bellingham is also ranked by CIES as the most valuable footballer at the 2022 World Cup.
Bellingham, who starred for England at the World Cup in Qatar, is contracted to Dortmund until the summer of 2025 but is expected to be at the center of a bidding war this summer, with several of Europe’s elite clubs interested in signing the former Birmingham player.
2. Phil Foden
Phil Foden ranks second in CIES 100 players with the top estimated transfer values in football.
The 22-year-old remains in fine form for Manchester City and England and he is valued at £177.1m.
Phil Foden has played 12 EPL matches and came in as a substitution in 5. He has scored 7 goals for City and netted once in his 3 appearances for England in the 2022 World Cup.
3. Kylian Mbappe
PSG and France superstar Kylian Mbappe remains ahead of Erling Haaland as the third most valuable player in the football world.
The France International superstar is the top scorer at the winter World Cup in Qatar with five goals.
In addition, despite Mbappe’s Paris Saint-Germain contract being due to expire in 2024, the World Cup golden boot winner still emerges as Les Bleus’ most valuable player and the third-highest overall at €185m.
This list estimates player values by considering performance, age, and contracts, which explains why Bellingham, 19, and Foden, 22 are ranked above third-placed Kylian Mbappe, 24 whose deal at Paris Saint-Germain expires in the summer of 2024.
4. Vinicius Junior
Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior has been rated as the fourth most valuable footballer with a value of £168.2 million.
The 22-year-old Real Madrid and Brazil forward is valued above £168 million, making him the most coveted footballer in the Selecao’s 26-man tournament selection.
5. Erling Haaland
Manchester City’s star Erling Haaland, who has excited English football with 18 goals in just 13 Premier League matches since his €60m move to Guardiola’s City from Borussia Dortmund, is now ranked at €154.5m.
The second valued player Foden’s Manchester City team-mate Erling Haaland, whose deal with the London club runs until 2027 has fired 27 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions since joining the club over the summer.
6. Pedri Gonzalez
Pedri Gonzalez is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for La Liga club Barcelona and the Spain national team.
The 20-year-old Pedri, who is regarded as one of the most promising young footballers in the world ranked sixth with £150.3 million.
7. Pablo Gavi
While Pedri ranked sixth, Barcelona’s youngest midfield Gavi who is 18-year-old ranked seventh in the CIES world’s most valuable player list with £130.4 million.
8. Jamal Musiala
Bayern Munich, Germany – and former England youth international magnificent midfielder Jamal Musiala occupy the eighth place in the CIES world most valuable footballers with £128.1 million.
9. Josko Gvardiola
Croatia and RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiola, who has reportedly been linked with several top clubs after his impressive performance for Croatia at the World Cup ranks as ninth most valuable player.
Interestingly, Josko Gvardiola is the highest ranked defender on the list with £111.1 million value.
10. Federico Valverde
Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde rounds out the top 10 most valuable player according to research carried out by the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES).
Federico Valverde ranks tenth with a £109.1 transfer value.
