After the Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated Egypt 1-0 in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, Tammy Abraham took to his Instagram story to prove that he followed the game via his laptop.
In the Instagram post, the 24-year-old Nigerian-born English striker shared a picture of his laptop. A scene of the football match between Egypt and Nigeria was displayed on the laptop screen.
He tagged Ola Aina, Kenneth Omeruo, and Kelechi Iheanacho who he believed performed superbly during the AFCON group D game. Recall that Tammy Abraham played with Omeruo and Aina at Chelsea before they all went their separate ways.
On Tuesday, Nigeria met with 7-time winners of AFCON, Egypt. Before the game, it was expected that Mohamed Salah’s led Egypt will beat Nigeria.
On the contrary, Nigeria dominated the game from start to finish. Kenneth Omeruo who plays as a central defender for CD Leganés and Ola Aina who plays as a right-back for Torino ensured that Mohamad Salah and his teammates did not have room to shoot on goal.
Unfortunately for Kenneth Omeruo, the 28-year-old defender fell on the pitch unchallenged in the last quarter of the game. He had to be substituted in the 79th minute for West Brom defender Semi Ajayi.
Though he was a very important factor in the game for over 70 minutes, his absence did not give Egypt much chance to have their way. As of the time of publishing this report, Omeruo was a big doubt for Nigeria’s next AFCON group game which is against Sudan on Saturday.
If his injury is as serious as keeping him out of football until Saturday, the country’s interim coach Austin Eguavoen would have no choice but to replace him with either Ajayi or Chidozie Awaziem.
As for Kelechi Iheanacho, the Leicester City striker scored the only goal of the match in the 30th minute, thanks to an assist from Joe Aribo.

To prove that he still has Nigerian blood flowing in his veins, Tammy Abraham shared an Instagram story and wrote: “Lets Go” with Nigeria flag and tagged @OLAAINA @KELECHI72 @OMERUO.
Recall that Tammy Abraham would have played for the national team of Nigeria if he had chosen to. But he decided to switch allegiance to England, his country of birth.
Abraham who currently plays for Roma has played for England under-18, U-19, and U-21. He made his senior team debut on November 10, 2017. Since then, he has played 10 times for England in which he scored three goals.
