Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud have continued to display outstanding form in Italian Serie A as they continued to contribute to the impressive run of their respective clubs.
Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud are among the numerous footballers who were not too needed under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea. The German Tactician saw no use in keeping them at the club when he has Timo Werner and new arrival Romelu Lukaku.
In fact, from the era of coach Frank Lampard, Chelsea have shown that they were not too confident in the abilities of Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud. Hence, immediately the transfer ban which they suffered ahead of the 2019-2020 season was lifted, Chelsea spent fortunes to sign Werner and Kai Havertz.
When the fortunate of the club failed to improve especially in the Premier League, the club decided to sack Lampard and appoint former coach of Paris Saint Germain, Thomas Tuchel. The arrival of Tuchel at Chelsea reduced the game time of Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud drastically.
Even though Giroud was offered a year contract extension at Stamford Bridge, the 34-year-old Frenchman was not happy that he was spending too much time on the bench. Hence, he had to accept AC Milan’s two-year deal and switched to them in July 2021.
As for Abraham, the 23-year-old English striker was having faith that he could fight for his place in Tuchel’s squad since he had Werner alone to compete with, thanks to the exit of Giroud.
Unfortunately for him, Thomas Tuchel pressed that he needed a more proven striker which forced the club to sign Lukaku for the club’s transfer fee record worth over £97.5 million.
When it was certain that Lukaku was on his way to Chelsea, Abraham decided to accept the opportunity of working under legendary coach Jose Mourinho at Roma.
Since he arrived at Roma on August 17, 2021, for a transfer fee worth €40 million, Mourinho has continued to make him the club’s top striker. Fortunately for the Portuguese coach, Abraham has not failed him so far.

In his debut league game for Roma, Abraham provided two assists. While on his second game which was played on Sunday, August 29, Abraham scored a stunning goal in Roma’s 4-0 win over newly-promoted Salernitana.
His presence in Roma has continued to be a good omen for the team as Jose Mourinho and his boys are yet to drop a point this season. His contract with the Italian club would expire on June 30, 2021.
On the other hand, Giroud scored two goals in AC Milan’s 4-1 win over Cagliari on Sunday to make up for his inability to score on his debut for the Italian giants.
So far this season, only Roma, AC Milan, Lazio, Inter Milan, and Napoli are yet to drop a point in the Italian Serie A after two games.
As it stands, all eyes are on Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud to see whether or not they would continue to prove Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel wrong for the rest of the 2021-2022 season.
