Arsenal football club are on the verge of signing Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu from Italian Serie A club, Bologna. The club have agreed personal teams with the player.

The Premier League club have until midnight, August 31 to complete the deal because the transfer window closes in England tonight.

Based on our findings, Takehiro Tomiyasu is a very versatile footballer who can play as a central defender and as a right-back which would be a great addition to the Gunners.

If Arsenal can bring in the 22-year-old Japanese defender to the Emirates Stadium tonight, he would become the 6th player the London-based club would sign this summer.

Not only that, Takehiro Tomiyasu could become the third defender Arsenal would sign this summer. Recall that earlier in the summer, Arsenal signed Ben White and Nuno Tavares to solidify the club’s defense but nothing has changed yet.

So far in the 2021-2022 season, Arsenal have struggled to defend properly. Hence, they have recorded three straight defeats in the Premier League this season.

Not only that, the Premier League club have conceded a whopping 9 goals in three games, and are yet to score a goal. Their woeful form so far has dragged them down to the 20th spot on the league table.

Mikel Arteta believes the addition of Takehiro Tomiyasu could be the answer Arsenal need to make things better especially in the defense department.

Hence, the club is ready to pay an initial €20 million for the services of the defender. Arsenal could pay an additional €3 million in add-ons before they can close the deal tonight.

Takehiro Tomiyasu has been playing for Bologna since July 9, 2019. His contract with the Italian club will expire on June 30, 2024.
