Taiwo Awoniyi did not feature in Super Eagles of Nigeria international friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.

The former Liverpool striker was called up for both international friendlies but was however sidelined due to an injury.

The Nottingham Forest attacker was then replaced in the team by Real Sociedad striker Sadiq Umar who did well in his absence.

Awoniyi, who formerly played for Union Berlin and Liverpool, is set to make a return to the squad in time for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers next month.

However, Taiwo Awoniyi did not allow that stop him from celebrating his son Emmanuel’s birthday on Monday, October 16, 2023.

Taiwo Awoniyi celebrated his son’s birthday amid the injury and shared lovely pictures of his son and himself posing together.

The Super Eagles striker shared three lovely images of he and his son and also added a wonderful caption to go with the pictures.

In the image, he wrote: “Happy birthday 🎉🎂🎊 He’s always with you 😍❤️ Continue to grow in His mercy and glory.”

From the images shared, one could see that the son was in a happy mood as he flashed his toys to the camera with a cute smile.

This is coming after Taiwo Awoniyi and his wife Taiye Jesudun announced that they have a second baby on the way which they have successfully welcomed earlier this year.

And in the post, the striker’s wife Taiye, could be seen heavily pregnant with the former FC Union Berlin seen carrying Emmanuel on his shoulders.

The Forest Ace has reportedly returned from the sidelines but it is unsure if he will feature in the club’s next match against Luton Town.
