FC Cincinnati are on the verge of completing the signing of Nigeria international Chidozie Awaziem from Boavista.
Reports indicate that negotiations between involved parties are now at the final stages, as formalities attached to the deal will be completed soon.
Chidozie Awaziem To FC Cincinnati
Chidozie Awaziem will become the club’s first signing this summer, although the length of his contract and transfer fee have not been revealed.
The 27-year-old joined Boavista on a permanent deal from FC Porto on July 1, 2021, for a fee of €5 million.
At Boavista, Awaziem has been loaned to two clubs, namely; Turkish side Alanyaspor and Croatian club Hajduk Split.
The center-back got a consistent run of games last season, making 27 appearances, scoring no goals, and providing 1 assist in all competitions.
Cumulatively, Chidozie Awaziem made 59 appearances for Boavista, scoring no goal and providing 3 assists across all competitions.
He has played for several clubs in his career, including; Porto, FC Nantes, CD Leganés, and Caykur Rizespor.
Portland Timbers Sign Mason Toye
Portland Timbers have completed the signing of American attacker Mason Toye from MLS rivals CF Montreal.
Toye joins Portland Timbers for a fee of €185,000 and he becomes the club’s second signing this summer, having signed Finn Surman from Australian side Wellington Phoenix.
The Providence Park club confirmed the signing of Mason Toye via a statement shared on their website which read:
“The Portland Timbers have acquired forward Mason Toye from CF Montréal in exchange for Portland’s 2025 MLS SuperDraft second-round pick, the club announced today.”
They also revealed the length of the forward’s contract, indicating that it runs until the end of the 2024 MLS season, but there is a club option that could see the deal stretch until 2025.
The 25-year-old spent 5 seasons with CF Montreal, scoring 13 goals and providing 1 assist in 70 matches across all competitions.
Angolan Midfielder Manuel Cafumana Joins FC Dallas
FC Dallas have secured the services of Manuel “Show” Cafumana from Israeli side Maccabi Haifa on a one-year loan deal.
They confirmed the acquisition of the midfielder via a statement put out on their website which read:
“FC Dallas announced today that the club has acquired Angolan midfielder Manuel ‘Show’ Cafumana on a one-year loan, with an option to buy from Maccabi Haifa of Ligat ha’Al.”
FC Dallas have also made it known that the 25-year-old will occupy an international slot in their squad.
The MLS side added: “Show will occupy an international slot on the roster, pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).”
Manuel Cafumana, who functions primarily as a defensive midfielder, but can also be deployed as a central midfielder made 33 appearances for Maccabi Haifa in the 2023/24 season, having joined the club from Ludogorets in the summer of 2023 for a fee of €1.2 million.
Show will be bringing handy experience to the Major League Soccer side, having delineated his qualities in European football.
The Angolan has represented several clubs in his career, including; Boavista, Ludogorets, and Lille.
