Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was spotted training with the Catalan club, before his signing to Barcelona was officially completed or even, announced.
Arsenal’s contract was cancelled yesterday, allowing the club’s fired captain to join the LaLiga giants on a permanent basis for FREE.
The Gabonese striker, 32,’surprised’ the Gunners by flying to the Catalan capital on Monday morning to complete a transfer – four years after arriving in England.
After the singer agreed to personal arrangements, his presence is expected to be officially confirmed later today.
However, according to Spanish journalist Toni Juanmart, Aubameyang has already had the opportunity to impress his new teammates on the turf.
He previously tweeted a photo from Barcelona’s training session, in which the ex-Borussia Dortmund player could be seen clearly in the background.
“Aubemeyang did enter this morning with his colleagues,” he captioned the photo. Despite the fact that he had not yet been publicly revealed, he placed himself under Xavi’s instructions. Throughout the morning, he was extremely close to Dembélé.”
Arsenal and Barcelona appeared to be on the verge of canceling a loan deal after the two sides couldn’t agree on Auba’s massive £350,000-a-week salary.
If their former captain was playing for the LaLiga giants, Arsenal refused to pay the majority of the money.
But, only three hours before the transfer window closed, Arsenal and Aubameyang reached a miraculous agreement, forcing the striker to return to London with his tail between his legs.
Arsenal just let the misfit go, canceling his contract in the same way that they did with Mesut Ozil a year ago.
Arsenal has broken all connections with Aubameyang, and he will not return to the Emirates.
As a result, Barcelona has the option of directly negotiating with the player, who has effectively become a free agent.
There is an agreement for a six-month contract with the option of extending it for another year.
Arsenal will save £26 million in salary over the remaining 18 months of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ‘s deal.
They have, however, written off a player who cost them £60 million when he arrived from Borussia Dortmund on this date last year.
Aubameyang, the Gunners’ sixth January departure, is said to be accepting a significant salary cut to join Barcelona, who are subject to tight FFP laws after declaring a £1.6 billion financial loss last year.
