Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says staying at Arsenal football club or leaving the club is no longer in his hands but in the hands of the club. He stressed that though he has discussed his contract issues with the club some months ago, the club is yet to tell him whether he is staying or going.

The Arsenal captain is arguably the best player at the club and one of the best strikers in the Premier League. In June 2021, his contract with the Premier League side will expire and yet, the club is not making any move to renew it, thereby giving room for speculations.

Aubameyang will turn 31-year-old on June 18 and one of the biggest concerns of most Arsenal fans across the world is whether he will renew his contract with the club or sign for one of his numerous suitors.

The Arsenal star left German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in 2018 for a transfer fee worth about £60 million. He was doing very well in a league which is heavily dominated by Bayern Munich. His migration from Germany to England was to win club titles and he thought Arsenal will give him that.

Despite being among the top three scorers in the league last season, he had no medal to show for it. His goals were not even enough to help the club finish in a Champions League spot.

This season again, he has scored over 20 goals in all competitions and it is not looking like Arsenal will get a Champions League spot or win the FA Cup which they are still very much in.

“Every competitive player dreams of winning trophies,” Aubameyang told Téléfoot. “It’s important. People will ask, ‘Does he want to win them at Arsenal or somewhere else?’

“As I said, time will tell. The ball is in the club’s court. I certainly want to win trophies and everyone knows that. Regardless of my choice, I’ll keep fighting to win trophies.”

Aubameyang revealed that he has not received any offer from Arsenal yet and whatever he decides to do would mark a huge turning point in his career.

“I haven’t had any offers recently, of course, but I did speak to the club quite a few months ago, and they know why nothing has happened yet”, he added.

“The ball is in their court now, so it’s down to them to do their bit and we’ll see how it goes.

“As I’ve said, it’s a turning point in my career and I want to be honest with everyone: It’ll certainly be a very difficult decision to make and I haven’t yet made it. We’ll see. I think it might be the most important choice of my career.”

Arsenal is currently sitting on the 9th spot on the league table with 40 points. They have a date with second-placed Manchester City on June 17, the date the Premier League is scheduled to restart. A win in that game could increase their chance of making it to a European league spot and a lost will take them closer to the relegation zone.
