Tottenham Hotspur have reached agreement with Sporting Lisbon to sign former Manchester City and Spain right-back Pedro Porro.
Negotiations between the two clubs is said to have proceeded at lightening speed with the transfer window closing in a matter of hours.
As per Fabrizio Romano, the London club has finally reach an agreement with Sporting Lisbon to sign the Spain international after a day of intensive talks and negotiations between the two clubs.
As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Sporting Lisbon pecked Pedro Norro’s release clause at £45m and Tottenham is said to have met the release the clause.
As at the time of filing this report, Pedro Norro was set to fly into London to complete his Tottenham medicals and be unveiled by the club as their new player. His deal with the club runs until 2028.
As part of the deal to sign Pedro Norro, The Premier League club have reportedly given up 15 per cent of their sell-on clause for Marcus Edwards, who left Tottenham for Portugal in 2019.
Edwards joined Vitoria de Guimaraes that year, before moving to Sporting in January of last year.
Antonio Conte is said to have pressed the button for the acquisition of Pedro Norro due to his preferred 3-4-2-1 system which needs effective and good wing-backs.
While Ivan Perisic has covered Spurs on the left side of Antonio Conte’s formation, the club lacked a good right-winger to play in the right flank.
Pedro Norro is seen as a perfect fit for the role and is said to be one of the most promising right-backs in Europe. Conte believed he will bring in that attacking threat to his 3-4-2-1 formation.
