Real Madrid, the reigning Spanish champion, and a revitalized Barcelona are two of the teams competing in what looks to be an entertaining La Liga 2022–23 football season.

Football leagues throughout the world have had to adjust their schedules because the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar are scheduled to start on November 21, 2022. The La Liga season begins on the same day as the previous one, though.

Everything you need to know about Spain’s top-flight football’s upcoming season is provided here by FUTBALLNEWS.

When does the 2022–23 Spanish La Liga season begin?

La Liga’s 2022–23 season is set to begin on August 12 despite a mid-season break to accommodate the 2022 World Cup.

Note that the 2021–22 campaign began one day sooner than the date for the coming season.

Also note that the 2021–22 season ended on May 22, 2021. As usual, the Pre-season practice and friendlies will be included in the clubs’ two-and-a-half-month break before the new season commence.

The World Cup will be taking place on the weekend of November 12–13, hence La Liga will be suspended during that time. The season will resume on December 29, 2022, after the players have finished their World Cup obligations.

When will the 2022–2023 La Liga season end?

Note that the 2022’s World Cup finals are scheduled to take place from November 21 to December 18. The La Liga 2021–22 season will resume on December 29, 2022, eleven days after the World Cup final.

The remainder of the season will be played until the last matchday, which is scheduled for June 4, 2023. As is customary, all 10 of the matches on the final day of the season will be played concurrently.

In contrast to the previous season, which ended two weeks earlier on May 22, the end date for the current season is in June.

What teams will compete in 2022–2023?

The 2022–23 La Liga season will have 20 clubs once more, with three promoted teams taking the place of the three relegated teams.

Following their top-two finishes in the second division, Almeria and Real Valladolid are the new newcomers, and they will be joined by Girona, who won the promotion play-offs.
