Lamine Yamal has been ruled out of Spain national team in the ongoing international break due to a knock on Saturday against Denmark.
The star winger limped off in the 1-0 win against Denmark during the stoppage time. Following tests with Spain’s medical department, the 17-year-old has been sent back to Barcelona to complete his recovery.
Yamal will now miss Spain’s tie against Serbia on Tuesday, October 16, 2034, and has been replaced in the squad by Atletico Madrid’s Rodrigo Riquelme.
However, Barcelona will heave a heavy sigh of relief following confirmations that Yamal has only suffered an overload and not a serious injury.
The youngster who has been a quintessential figure for club and country this season, featuring in every match for both so far this season, will now rest before the next round of action for Barcelona in La Liga.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if the youngster will feature against Sevilla this weekend.
Lamine Yamal injury history
Lamine Yamal has enjoyed a relatively injury-free career, missing just four games due to injury in his second year as a professional footballer.
