Southampton have completed the signing of Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal for an initial fee of €21 million, potentially rising to €29 million if performance-related add-ons are met.
Ramsdale becomes the 16th signing made by the Saints this summer, having already secured the services of Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Flynn Downes, Cameron Archer, Mateus Fernandes, Ben Brereton Díaz, and Yukinari Sugawara.
Southampton have also acquired Nathan Wood, Ronnie Edwards, Wellington, Charlie Taylor, Adam Lallana, Rento Takaoka, Kuryu Matsuki, and Juan.
Lesley Ugochukwu also joined the Saint Mary’s stadium side this summer from Chelsea on loan.

Confirming the signing of Aaron Ramsdale, Southampton put out a statement on their website which read:
“The sought-after 26-year-old England international has moved to St Mary’s on a four-year contract, further strengthening the options in Russell Martin’s squad ahead of the summer transfer window closing.”
Meanwhile, Aaron Ramsdale lost his place as first-choice goalie at Arsenal to David Raya during the 2023/24 season, as manager Mikel Arteta felt he wasn’t suited to his style.
Raya was initially on loan at the North London side and he proved himself worthy to be the team’s number 1 goalkeeper, and that earned him a permanent move to the club in the summer of 2024.
Apparently, Aaron Ramsdale was not content with playing a second-fiddle role at Arsenal and as such, he has opted to join Southampton.
Despite making only 11 appearances for the Gunners in the 2023/24 season, Ramsdale was still selected amongst England’s runner-up squad for the 2024 European Championship.
