Manchester United have decided to go against the decision to trigger their option to permanently sign Fiorentina defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

The Moroccan moved to Manchester United after a huge clamour from the fans to sign the player in the 2023–24 January transfer window because of his performance for Morocco in the 2022 World Cup.

However, his season in the Premier League was not convincing enough for the INEOS to sign him on a permanent deal from Fiorentina.

It was revealed that Manchester United won’t pay his buy out clause of €20 million, but they may reconsider if other midfield targets are more expensive than expected.

The midfielder is set to return to Fiorentina on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, to prepare for the preseason with the Serie A team.

Other Premier League clubs are looking forward to signing the Sofyan Amrabat ahead of next season.

Manchester United are expected to sign a new defensive midfielder, with Casemiro likely to move to the Saudi Arabia Pro League.

The primary target in terms of signing a new defensive midfielder is Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte.

Other players Manchester United are considering for that position are Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi and free agent Adrien Rabiot.

Manchester United will sell more players in the current transfer window given that they had already spent £85 million on Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.

Manchester United have sold Willy Kambwala, Donny Van de Beek, and Mason Greenwood in the current transfer window.

If the Red Devils can raise money from the sale of some first-team players, they are likely to go into the transfer window for another defender after they signed Leny Yoro.
