Sevilla have successfully acquired a new left-back, Adria Pedrosa, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The club are seeking to bolster their defense and they have signed Adria Pedrosa as a replacement for Alex Telles, who is expected to return to Manchester United.
According to reports, The Red Devils would likely sell the Brazilian player Alex Telles following his return to Old Trafford from his loan spell at Sevilla.
During the previous season, Telles was on loan with Sevilla and played a crucial role in the team’s achievement of a 12th-placed finish.
The 30 years old Brazilian star was able to accumulate 27 appearances in La Liga while playing for Sevilla and played a total of 38 games across all competitions.
Telles won the Europa League with Sevilla as he was part of the squad that knocked out Manchester United in the quarterfinals.
However, it appears that Telles failed to convince the executives at Sevilla to sign him permanently.
According to Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, it has been confirmed that Los Nervionenses have signed Adria Pedrosa as a replacement for Telles.
The report read: “Sevilla have signed Adriá Pedrosa as new left-back, a deal completed — as new director Victor Orta has just confirmed.”
“He will replace Alex Telles who returns to Manchester United and will be available on the market for the new exit.”
Meanwhile, Real Betis and Rayo Vallecano had expressed interest in Pedrosa, but Sevilla ultimately secured his signature.
The 25-year-old defender from Espanyol ended his contract with the club this summer and showed no indication of signing a new one.
Pedrosa has played 138 matches in his club career thus far, gaining recognition for his impressive assist work. He has created a total of 13 assists and scored 9 goals across all competitions.
Sevilla announced other signings
In the quest to solidify their defense, Sevilla recently announced the permanent signing of Loïc Badé on a contract that will keep him with the club until June 2027.
On 4 January, 2023, Badé joined La Liga side Sevilla until the end of the season with an option-to-buy.
However, as per the club’s official statement, he has committed to the club for a minimum of “four seasons” going forward.
In addition to the services of Adrià Pedrosa that have been secured, Sevilla also signed Argentinian center-back Federico Gattoni from San Lorenzo de Almagro, both at the end of their respective contracts.
