Sevilla Agree To Sign Super Eagles Forward Chidera Ejuke

Super Eagles and former Gombe United forward Chidera Ejuke is set to seal a move to La Liga outfit Sevilla.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the six-time Europa League winners have reached a verbal agreement with the former Gombe United winger to sign the player. Details of Sevilla’s contract offer for the 26-year-old is yet to be revealed but Fabrizio Romano has confirmed proceedings are on the fast lane for the deal to be sealed.

The report added that the Super Eagles forward Is set for medical and will be joining the club as a free agent as his CSKA Moscow contract expires this summer.

“Sevilla agree deal to sign Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke as free agent, here we go!

“Verbal agreement in place with Sevilla on contract terms, medical and signature are booked for next week,” Fabrizio Romano says.

Ejuke spent the last two years of his CSKA Moscow contract on loan due to Russia’s war with Ukraine. He called off his contract temporarily and moved to Hertha Berlin in Germany and then Royal Antwerp in Belgium on loan deals.

Chidera Ejuke

Chidera Ejuke is a Nigerian professional football player, currently plying his trade with Royal Antwerp in Belgium from CSKA Moscow in Russia. The Zaria-born Nigeria forward began his career with a Nigerian football Academy – Supreme Court FC.

Following a series of outstanding performances, he joined Nigeria Professional Football Club, Gombe United, in 2016.

Ejuke made 6 league appearances for the club before joining Norwegian outfit Valerenga in Europe in 2017. Playing as a forward, he scored 13 league goals in 59 appearances for the club in two seasons. From Valerenga, he moved to the Dutch league in 2017, joining Heerenveen, and made 25 league appearances for the club, scoring 9 goals.

On August 28, 2020, he would sign a four-year contract with CSKA Moscow in the Russian top-flight. Due to Russia’s war with Ukraine, the Nigeria forward reportedly suspended his contract with the Russian outfit and joined Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin on loan. After a season with Hertha Berlin, he moved to Royal Antwerp in the Belgian Pro League, where he has made 29 appearances for the club, scoring 4 goals.

International career

Ejuke rose through the ranks in Nigeria youth teams. He made 5 appearances for Nigeria U17, and 3 appearances for U20, before making his Super Eagles debut in 2020. The Sevilla-bound forward has won 8 caps with Nigeria national team since his debut.

In all competitions, Ejuke made 69 appearances for Valerenga, scoring 15 goals; made 29 appearances for Heerenveen with 10 goals; 65 appearances for CSKA Moscow, scoring 10 goals; 21 appearances for Hertha Berlin and 39 appearances for Royal Antwerp with 5 goals. Overall, he has tallied 229 club appearances with 40 goals. His international tally with Nigeria stands at 8 with 0 goals.
