Sergio Reguilon is set to join Atletico Madrid from Tottenham after the Spanish giants completed a loan agreement with the English club. Reguilon will join Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan deal lasting till 2023.
Atletico Madrid have agreed with Tottenham to land one of their left-backs, Sergio Reguilon. The Spanish giants indicated an interest in the player after losing one of their top stars Renan Lodi to Nottingham Forests.
Renan Lodi joined Premier League side, Nottingham Forest, on a season-long loan deal, which will see him earn a place in Steve Cooper’s starting lineup.
The 24-year-old left-back completed his medical with the newly-promoted Premier League side on Sunday. He is the 18th addition to the Nottingham Forest squad.
Nottingham Forest has made 18 acquisitions this summer as they seek to remain in the Premier League and avoid relegation back to the Championship.
Renan Lodi moved on loan after struggling for three years under Diego Simeone. Making it to the Brazil 2022 World Cup squad seemed impossible at Atletico Madrid due to his lack of game time. At Nottingham Forest, this could be reversed. The 24-year-old is guaranteed to make Steve Cooper’s first team.
Atletico Madrid pursued the Reguilon loan deal with Tottenham to replace Renan Lodi. The agreement is completed, and Reguilon is set to fly into the Spanish Capital on Monday or Tuesday for his medicals scheduled to hold this week.
Reguilon will join the top La Liga club on a season-long loan which will expire in 2023 with no buy option.

Sergio Reguilon is a 25-year-old Spanish international who plays as a left-back for Spain’s senior national team and Tottenham Hotspur.
Reguilon was born and raised in Madrid, the Spanish Capital. He made headway in his football career in 2005 when he joined Real Madrid Youth Academy. He played for the team for 10 years before transitioning to Real Madrid team B in 2015.
At Real Madrid team B, Reguilon made 48 appearances, scoring 2 goals in his 3 years spell with the club.
