Sergio Aguero is officially a player of FC Barcelona as he has successfully completed medicals with the Spanish giants today, May 31, 2021.
He joined the club for free after spending 10 years at Manchester City where he won 5 Premier League titles, 6 league cups, 1 FA Cup, and 3 Community Shields.

Though Aguero is already 32-year-old, FC Barcelona believe so much in the Argentine striker who scored club’s record 260 goals for Manchester City, that the club decided to peg his release clause at 100 million euros.

This is the second coming of Sergio Aguero to Spain and La Liga. Recall that when the Argentina international left AtlΓ©tico Independiente in Argentina to Europe in 2006, his first stop was at Atletico Madrid where he had about 5 glorious years before he joined Manchester City in 2011.
Hence, the terrain would not be new to the proven goalscorer but there are doubts about whether he would be able to flaunt his goalscorer prowess at Barcelona as he did at Atletico Madrid and Manchester City due to his age.
Besides not being his first time in La Liga, Aguero will have the opportunity of playing side by side with his national teammate and friend, Lionel Messi.
Most critics of the club believe that FC Barcelona decided to go for Aguero despite being at the twilight of his career because they believe that with him around, he could help to convince Lionel Messi to extend his contract with Barcelona.
Messi’s contract with Barcelona will expire on June 30, 2021, and there is yet to be an agreement between him and the club at the time of publishing this report.
Hence, football fans across the world especially the club’s fans, are keeping their fingers crossed over the fate of the club’s talisman and record 6-times Ballon d’Or winner.
