FC Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero is not thinking of retiring despite speculation that he might be forced to retire due to heart-related issues.

Aguero has been out of football since October 30, 2021, when he was substituted in the La Liga match between FC Barcelona and Alaves. He was forced out of the game after complaining of chest pain.

Since he sustained the injury he has been receiving treatment and has been placed under medical observation.

Initially, FC Barcelona announced that Sergio Aguero would not be available to play for the club for three months due to a heart problem.

The club plan to use the period to evaluate his recovery process and understudy the “effectiveness” of the treatment that is being administered to him.

While the world was waiting for the outcome of the treatment, Catalunya Radio reported on Friday that the heart issue might get as bad as forcing Sergio Aguero to retire before the end of this season.

The 33-year-old Argentine football icon who is Manchester City’s all-time highest goalscorer was not planning to retire anytime soon before the heart issue surfaced.

Recall that the Argentina international joined FC Barcelona last summer when Manchester City failed to extend his contract after it expired on June 30, 2021. Reports claimed that the Premier League club decided not to renew his stay at the club due to how he constantly sustain knee injuries.

Based on the contract Sergio Aguero signed with FC Barcelona on July 1, 2021, he is expected to play for the Spanish side for two seasons. This means that his current contract with the Spanish side will expire on June 30, 2023.

Most analysts believe that it might be difficult for the Argentine football star to return to professional football due to his heart condition.

On the contrary, Sergio Aguero took to Twitter to share a tweet that he is “always positive” and he is following the prescriptions of the medical team.

Just like FC Barcelona, Aguero is also monitoring how well his health would improve within the next 90 days.

Aguero tweeted: “Amid the rumors, I’m telling you that I’m following the indications of the club’s doctors, undergoing tests and treatment, and seeing my progress within 90 days. Always positive!”

Since the Argentina international joined FC Barcelona on July 1, 2021, he has scored just a goal in 5 games. He has played four games in La Liga and a game in the UEFA Champions League.
