Sergio Aguero is ‘Eternally’ Grateful to Manchester City as he signed out in style

Manchester City took out time to celebrate their club legend, Sergio Aguero who played his last Premier League match in the club’s shirt on Sunday, May 23, 2021.

In the club’s last league game of the season which was against Everton football club, the over 10,000 spectators who had the opportunity to witness the game at the Etihad Stadium thought the outgoing 32-year-old Argentine striker would not feature in the game since Manchester City were already leading by three goals before the 54th minute.

Lo and behold, the man of the moment, Sergio Aguero had his chance as the club’s coach, Pep Guardiola introduced him into the game in the 65th minute.

Like in his prime, the Argentine striker became an instant success by scoring a goal in the 71st minute and scored another goal in the 76th minute to give Manchester City a 5-0 victory over Everton.

After the game and after the Premier League title was presented to Manchester City for the third time in the last four years, the club decided to celebrate him. He was presented with a slate of honor containing a jersey and “93 20” was written on it.

Besides other medals that were presented to him, his teammates decided to give him a special treat by tossing him up and down to illustrate how important he has been to the club.

In his reaction, the 32-year-old Argentine striker took to Instagram to share a series of pictures from the farewell party and wrote in the caption that he is “eternally grateful” to Manchester City.

Sergio Aguero who joined Manchester City from Atletico Madrid in 2011 for a transfer fee worth €40 million will cease to be the player of the club when his contract expires in June 2021. This means that he will still be available for Manchester City in the Champions League final between the club and Chelsea on May 29.

Sergio Aguero won 12 titles with Manchester City including 5 Premier League titles, 1 FA Cup, and 6 league cups. He might help Manchester City to win the club’s first Champions League title on May 29, 2021, before he finally bows out of the club.

According to viral reports, Aguero might move to FC Barcelona for free when his contract with Manchester City expires in June this year.
