Rescheduled English Premier League Games: Due to UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League draws, the Premier League have rescheduled sets of fixtures to make room for clubs partaking in the three UEFA club competitions.
England have four representatives in the Champions League, two in the Europa League, and two in the Conference League. Premier League champions Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Aston Villa will represent the English top flight in the UEFA Champions League.
Manchester United will join 2023-24 fifth-place finishers Tottenham in the group stages of the Europa League. Chelsea will fly the England flag in the Conference League.
Due to the number of English teams taking part in the UEFA Club competitions, some domestic fixtures have to be rejigged to allow clubs participating in the continental showpiece to navigate through both domestic and continental fixtures.
Below are the four rescheduled English Premier League games due to the UEFA club competition draws:
Chelsea vs. Nottingham Forest
Liverpool’s third-place finish in the 2023-24 Premier League table afforded Chelsea a chance to taste European football again in 2022. The Blues will be playing in the third-tier UEFA Club competition – The UEFA Conference League.
As a result, their fixture against Nottingham Forest is one of the rescheduled English Premier League games. The match has been moved to Sunday, October 6, 2024. The kick-off time is 14:00GMT
AFC Bournemouth vs. Arsenal
Arsenal are back in the Champions League again for the second consecutive season after finishing as runners-up behind Manchester City in the past two seasons.
The Gunners, who crashed out in the quarterfinals to Bayern Munich last season, will hope to move a step further in this season’s campaign. Their Premier League fixture against AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium has been moved to Saturday, October 19. The kickoff time for the match is 17:30GMT.
Wolves vs. Manchester City
2022 UEFA Champions League winners and last season’s semifinalist, Manchester City, will be back in action in the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League. Hence, their match against Wolves is one of the four rescheduled Premier League Games for October. The match, scheduled to take place at the Molineux Stadium, has been moved to Sunday, October 17, 2024. It will be played by 14:00GMT.
Liverpool vs. Chelsea
The biggest and most anticipated of the rescheduled Premier League games is the Liverpool vs. Chelsea match. The two teams will be involved in Champions League and Conference League action.
Hence, their Premier League fixture has been moved to Sunday, October 19, 2024—the same date Manchester City will trade tackles with Wolves. However, unlike the Wolves vs. Manchester City clash, the match is a late kick-off. It will be played by 16:30 GMT at Anfield.
Notably, the aforementioned will not be the only rescheduled English Premier League games. According to the Premier League, more changes will be announced for November fixtures on Friday, September 13, 2024, to accommodate UEFA club matches.
