Everton manager Sean Dyche has confirmed that the club are considering renegotiating Dele Alli’s contract due to financial challenges and ongoing discussions about the club’s future ownership.
Alli was signed for Everton from Tottenham Hotspur in January 2022 on a permanent deal, with Everton reportedly paying a £10m transfer fee.
However, Alli has struggled to make an impact at Everton, making just 13 appearances in all competitions and scoring just one goal.
Everton are currently in a difficult financial position, and they are also looking for a new owner after Farhad Moshiri announced that he is putting the club up for sale. In light of these challenges, Dyche has said that Everton may need to renegotiate Alli’s contract.
It is unclear what the outcome of any renegotiation would be. However, it is possible that Everton could try to reduce Alli’s wages or even sell him early in the January transfer window.
Alli is a talented player, but he has failed to live up to his potential at Everton. It remains to be seen whether he will be given another chance to prove himself at the club or whether he will be moved on in January.
