Bundesliga club, Schalke 04 are keen on signing Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez this summer.
Sky Sports reports that the Gunners are open to cashing in on the goalkeeper this summer.
The Argentine has been playing second fiddle to Bernd Leno at the Emirate Stadium. He has been impressive whenever he gets an opportunity. He has also been between the sticks for the Gunners since the German got injured against Brighton in the Premier League.
Although Leno has returned to full fitness, Martinez got the nod for the Gunners’ win over Liverpool in the Community Shield final at the weekend. But indications are showing that he could be back as understudy to Leno later in the season.

Emiliano Martinez will get first team action at Schalke 04
Since the return of Leno could possibly limit the Argentine’s playing time, he could move to the Bundesliga club and Arsenal might not stop him from doing so.
This is due to the reports that Schalke are interested in acquiring the services this summer as they are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper. Their former number 1 Alexander Nubel has joined Bayern Munich on a free transfer.
However, the move could be stopped on financial grounds. Schalke is already in a financial mess, owing bout 200 million Euros in debt. It will be difficult for the Royal Blues to meet the goalkeeper at £20m. Gunners could, however, accept a fee less than that, considering the current climate.
Martinez has been a faithful servant to the club, He is therefore hopeful that the club will respect his service by accepting a fee less than £10m if necessary.
With such impressive performance lately, his stock has risen. Arsenal would want more cash for him, with two years left on his current deal.
The Argentine has always expressed his love for the club. But he wouldn’t want to be seen as a peripheral figure there anymore.
