Savinho is another young Brazilian ace who seeks to make a difference in the Premier League with Manchester City. Born on April 10, 2004, in Sao Mateus, Brazil, Savinho came into the limelight as one of the biggest young talents in world football following his loan move to Girona in La Liga.
His rise to the top has been an amazing journey through constant impressive performances that earned him successive promotions from the ranks of Brazilian football.
Savinho’s Career
Savinho began his footballing adventure with Atlético Mineiro, where he joined the youth ranks as a boy. His technical skills, flair, and quickness to get past opponents did not go unnoticed by scouts and coaches.
He made his professional debut for Atlético Mineiro at just 16 years old, thus showing his potential on a greater stage. He showed his versatility while there, playing not only on either wing but also in an attacking midfield position.
Savinho made his professional debut for Atlético Mineiro on 19 September 2020, appearing in the last ten minutes of the Série A 4–3 away win over Atlético Goianiense. On 19 May 2022, he scored his first professional goal in a 3–1 Copa Libertadores win against Independiente del Valle.
On 30 June 2022, Atlético Mineiro announced Savinho’s transfer to City Football Group for €6.5 million, with an additional €6 million in variables, assigning him to Troyes. On 22 July 2022, Savinho joined PSV on loan for the 2022–23 season.
On 13 July 2023, Savinho was loaned out to Girona of La Liga for the 2023–24 season. The deal saw him end the season with 9 goals and 10 assists in 37 games and top the league in successful dribbles with 104.
Having recognized his potential, Manchester City made a move for Savinho in June 2023, securing his transfer for a reported fee of £30 million. The transfer was big in his career growth as he was joining one of the top clubs in Europe.
