After a significant German bid, the Super Eagles forward Sadiq Umar might play in the Champions League next season.

After an outstanding 2021–2022 season for Almeria, Sadiq has been the focus of some top European clubs.

The 25-year-old propelled Almeria from the Segunda division back to La Liga by scoring 18 goals and assisting nine (9) times.

Sadiq Umar, a striker for the Super Eagles who currently calls Spain home, is on the verge of joining German Bundesliga powerhouse Borussia Dortmund for an estimated €25 million.

According to sources familiar with the reports, depending on appearances and performances, the sum might reach €30 million.

The Super Eagles striker has been picked by Dortmund as the ideal player to help them compete for trophies next season, according to the Spanish website FtbolFantasy, which reported that Dortmund is in the market for a striker.

For Almeria, Sadiq has been in excellent form for two seasons. In 74 La Liga appearances, he has scored 38 goals and recorded 19 assists.

His play has not gone unnoticed; during the summer transfer window, Villarreal, Real Sociedad, and Valencia were all connected with the former AS Roma forward.

Unexpectedly, Dortmund has entered the chase for the Nigerian, with the Spanish tabloid stoking rumors that the player had already moved out of his apartment in El Toyo and hadn’t renewed his contract, ostensibly in anticipation of a move to Germany.

According to the report, “Umar Sadiq is not guaranteed his continuity at UD Almera next season after the club received a €25 million bid for the 25-year-old Nigerian striker.”

According to what FtbolFantasy has learned, the footballer’s agent, the CAA Base, has also received a contract proposal to persuade him to exceed the contract he currently obtains in the Rojiblanca company.

The Almera press also reports that the striker left his home in El Toyo this Wednesday, where he had relocated from his previous abode on Camino del Bobar (Vega de Acá) less than a year ago.

He has not renewed his rental agreement to continue residing in his chalet since he is unsure whether he would continue to protect the UDA shield.

The state of the market and the most recent developments have Almeria supporters on high alert.

Hans-Joachim Watzke, the CEO of Dortmund, also told Sportschau.de that the team will soon recruit a striker.

“In light of this, I believe we should make another personnel decision. A truly effective solution is also challenging because the market’s selection isn’t exactly opulent”, the CEO explained.

“The ideal time for something to occur is during the next eight to ten days.”
