Mane’s Plan

“I respect Mo,” Mané told Soccer on Sunday. “But, given half a chance, I’ll shatter his legs on Sunday.” He only throws to me once or twice a season, so here is a great chance to cripple him with a tasty studs-up, shin high, both feet off the ground horror tackle.”

“Winning on Sunday would be incredible,” the 29-year-old remarked. “However, I’d swap all of my awards for a 50/50 chance with Mo.” I’m going to put my studs in him so deep that he’ll be spitting them out for a week.”

“After the game, I’ll shake his hand,” he continued. “God willing, I’ll be in the hospital.”

After today’s AFCON final between Egypt and Senegal, the Africa Cup of Nations will come to end on February 6, 2022. The match, which is set to begin at 20:00 on Sunday, has the potential to crown a new AFCON winner or extend Egypt’s record of seven AFCON crowns to eight.

Egypt made it to the final after a long and winding road. Even though the Pharaohs were considered one of the favorites to win the trophy before the tournament began, their rating plummeted after they lost their first game 1-0 against Nigeria.

Despite the fact that many people were disappointed in the Egyptian team led by Liverpool’s icon Mohamed Salah, the Pharaohs were undeterred. They went on to win 1-0 against Guinea-Bissau and 1-0 against Sudan to advance from the group stage.

After that, they were doomed to face some of the continent’s best teams in the tournament’s knockout stages. They defeated African giants Ivory Coast and Morocco to get to the semi-final stage, where they will face the host, Cameroon.

Even though the best-ranked squad on the region had to battle three coronavirus infections at the start of the tournament, Senegal has had a relatively easy ride.

Senegal beat Zimbabwe 1-0, drew 0-0 with Guinea, and drew 0-0 with Malawi to qualify for the knockout stage of the competition while fighting to contain the infection in their camp.

Senegal defeated Cape Verde 2-0 and Equatorial Guinea 3-1 in the knockout stages to advance to the semi-finals, where they will face Burkina Faso.

Senegal, as expected, breezed past Burkina Faso. With a decisive 3-1 victory over Burkina Faso, they advanced to the AFCON final for the second time in three years.
