As a consequence of the long VAR review, Josimar was sent off, leaving Cape Verde with nine men after Ptrick Andrade was ejected in the first half.

Mane, on the other hand, was permitted to continue despite the regulations prohibiting players from playing if they had suffered a concussion – and he demonstrated his worth little over 10 minutes later.

    The Goal:

Mane had the time and space to select his location on the periphery of the Cape Verde penalty area in the 63rd minute after collecting a half-cleared corner on the fringe of the penalty area.

However, it was one of his last moves of the game, as he fell down clutching his head immediately after as the consequences of the previous hit set in, and he was pulled out after 70 minutes.

Senegal advanced to the quarter-finals as Bamba Dieng scored in stoppage time, but doubts over star player Mane will remain.

    Mane at the Hospital:

After colliding on the pitch, Sadio Mane and Vozinha are reunited in hospital and in good spirit.
