The fierce competition, the passion, and the desire to win the heart of millions do bring collisions between players; Sadio Mane has proved critics wrong and has blazed a trail with an uncommon gesture of generosity toward an old-time friend, Desire Segbe.
Mane was not quick to start mapping out plans to outshine Lewandowski or break records with the club after joining the Bavarians but remembered an old-time friend for a place in the Bayern Reserve team.
Sadio Mane met Desire Segbe at generation Foot Academy in Senegal. Founded in 2000 by Mady Toure. The Academy is known to nurture great and top stars such Fallou Diagne, Babacar Gueye, Cheik Gueye, Sadio Mane, and other notable names in African football.
Before this latest largesse by the Senegal international, Mane had previously championed Desire Segbe’s cause in 2011.
Sadio Mane started his European football career with French side Metz in 2011. After leaving Generation Foot, he took the Benin international with him to France where he played for the Metz team B.
Mane parted ways with his friend when he joined Salzburg in Austria. Segbe toured other European lower clubs, playing in France, the Netherlands, and Russia. Segbe finally Joined Oldham. He was less impressive, with only three goals in 24 appearances from the club. His professional career began to fade as he failed to live up to the challenge.
When it appears that it is all done and dusted for the Benin international, Sadio Mane used his influence on Bayern to freshen up Segbe’s career. Segbe has reportedly signed a 2 years contract with the Bayern Munich Reserve team after Mane connected him to the club.
Segbe has spoken of Sadio Mane’s style and approach, his zeal, and his passion to weather limitations, aim higher, and dream big, right from his days at Generation Foot. Despite parting ways with his former friend, the two have been in touch and have tightened their bonds and friendship.
