Sadio Mane’s hamstring injury came as a surprise as many Liverpool fans seem worried and hope that their forefront man would require much medical treatment. Sadio Mane who has been in incredible form in the past couple of years went down with a muscle injury. Klopp could be seen groping his chivered beard as he silently hoped it wasn’t all too bad. Well, luckily for the Reds boss, Sadio Mane has left the hospital after undergoing a scan to determine the extent of a hamstring injury sustained against Wolves.The Liverpool forward played just 33 minutes of his side’s win at Molineux after pulling out injured during the first half.
In what seem like a horror film for many Refs fans, the Senegalese forward immediately requested to be subbed off. This left many Liverpool supporters fearing the worst from what can be a difficult injury to recover from in a timely manner.
Thankfully, Reds boss Jürgen Klopp allayed some of those concerns, providing an update following the match:
”It was very average that he had to go off…hopefully it’s not too difficult or too bad but we will see tomorrow,” Klopp said speaking to BT Sport.
Asked if it was a muscle tweak Klopp replied: “Yes, it can happen to anyone at this moment of the season.”
He later came forward again with some positive news concerning the forward. The manager was asked for an update on Mane, who was withdrawn after ‘feeling something’ in the first half of Thursday’s win at Wolverhampton Wanderers, at his pre-match press conference.
“No, I think he is in the scan in this moment,” replied Klopp. “They didn’t call me out of the scan, so, no. [Fingers crossed], yes.”
On other fitness concerns in his squad, the boss said: “Dejan trained completely normally, until the game it’s a week [back] so should be fine.
The initial prognosis is that the 15-goal scorer will miss at least the next three games, including Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Shrewsbury, as well as next week’s Premier League fixtures against West Ham and Mané’s former club, Southampton.
Naby Keita could be available for Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Shrewsbury Town but Liverpool await further news on Sadio Mane’s hamstring injury.
Further updates are still forthcoming and the hope will be that the key cog to Liverpool’s winning machine won’t be out long.
Liverpool currently are at the top of the EPL table and 16 points clear of second place, Manchester City with a game at hand.
