Liverpool are edging closer to signing midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, after reportedly agreeing on a transfer fee with Bayern Munich.

Jurgen Klopp’s side continues to explore the transfer market, as they look to make more midfield additions before the 2023 summer transfer window closes.

The Reds have witnessed the departure of James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Fabinho, and Naby Keita this summer and that has forced them to make necessary reinforcements.

Despite signing Endo Wataru, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Alexis Mac Allister, Liverpool are still unsatisfied with the business done in midfield.

Reports indicate that Liverpool have agreed to part with the sum of €40 million to land Ryan Gravenberch.

The report also reveals that Gravenberch will put pen to paper on a long-term deal at the Merseyside-based club.

Ryan Gravenberch reportedly traveled to Liverpool last night, as he looks to undergo a medical on Friday, September 1, 2023.

The 21-year-old joined Bayern Munich from Ajax for a transfer fee of €18.50 million on July 1, 2022.

He made 34 appearances for the Allianz Arena side last term, scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist across all competitions.

However, those 34 appearances were largely filled with substitute appearances, as he made only 3 league starts in 24 Bundesliga appearances in the 2022/23 season.

Gravenberch has scored one goal for Bayern Munich since joining the club, scoring in a DFB-POKAL encounter against Viktoria Koln.

He has only made one appearance for the Bavarian giants this season, coming off from the bench against Augsburg on Sunday, August 27, 2023.

Ryan Gravenberch is keen on a move away from the Allianz Arena, due to a scarcity of games under his belt.

Manager Thomas Tuchel hasn’t also assured him of playing time, and that has seen him thirst for football away from Munich.

Ryan Gravenberch was highly sought after at Ajax, where he made 103 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals and providing 13 assists in all competitions.

When did Gravenberch join Bayern Munich?

His performances for the Dutch giants caught the eye of Bayern Munich, and they forked out €18.5 million to secure his services on July 1, 2022.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are unbeaten in the English Premier League this term, with two wins and one draw.

They drew Chelsea by 1-1 in their opening game of the season, before defeating Bournemouth and Newcastle United by 3-1 and 2-1 respectively.

Meanwhile, Ryan Gravenberch began his career at Ajax, making his debut for the club in a 3-0 defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Gravenberch was 16 years, 4 months, and 7 days when he made his debut for the Eredivisie side.

The 21-year-old has also represented the Netherlands, making 11 appearances and scoring 1 goal across all competitions.

He made his international debut on March 24, 2021, in a 4-2 loss for the Oranje against Turkey.
