Manchester United legend, Ryan Giggs has been arrested on suspicion of assault on his girlfriend, Kate Greville.
The Sun reported that the police were called to the Wales manager’s £1.7 million property after 10 pm on Sunday evening upon reports of ‘a disturbance’.
According to the Tabloid, the Champions League winner was questioned on suspicion of actual bodily harm and assault.
Giggs and Greville have been dating for a while, but their relationship became public in August. Greville, who began PR work for Hotel Football seven years ago, has been on and off since 2017.
The relationship became public knowledge eight months after Giggs divorced his wife Stacey on whom he had been reportedly cheating on for several years with brother Rhodri’s spouse Natasha.
“Police were called at 10.05 pm on Sunday to reports of a disturbance. A woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries but did not require any treatment.
“A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault,” The Sun quoted a Greater Manchester Police spokesman.
The paper further claimed that the person in question had been released on bail pending further inquiries with Giggs emerging from Pendleton police station after hours of questioning.
Could Manchester United defeat be responsible for Giggs alleged assault on Kate Greville
It was gathered that Giggs was at Hotel Football, which he co-owns, earlier in the day to watch United’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, before moving to the Stock Exchange Hotel in the city center.
Giggs might be having a tough on the relationship front, but seems to be addicted to football.
Coincidentally, the reported incident happened after his club lost a football match at home.
Giggs, who is currently in charge of the Welsh national football team has recorded 12 victories and secured Euro 2020 qualification across his 24 games at the helm.
Having established himself as one of the most successful players in the Premier League history, Gigg moved into management and he seemed to have found his feet.
During his successful career which he played for only United, Giggs made 963 appearances, winning 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies, and 16 domestic honours.
Is Gigg’s Wales future in doubt?
Meanwhile, the current development has put the future of the Manchester United legend in doubt.
Wales were expected to have a press conference for Giggs’ squad announcement for a trio of November games which were due to be via Zoom this morning, but it was canceled.
It was gathered that the Welsh FA chiefs were in talks on Monday night over how to deal with Giggs’ alleged conduct.
“The squad announcement scheduled for tomorrow will no longer take place and has been postponed,” the Welsh FA added.
Although it remains unclear if Giggs would be allowed to continue his rile with the national team, he is expected to answer to chief executive Jonathan Ford over the alleged incident.
Wales already fixed a friendly game with the USA in Swansea on November 12, before playing a double-header against the Republic of Ireland and Finland in Cardiff later this month in the Nations League.
“The FAW is aware of an alleged incident involving the National Team Manager, Ryan Giggs.
“The FAW will be making no further comment at this current time,” the FA stated in another statement.
